👋🏻 Hello Reader...!
Today's reading time is about: 3 to 4 minutes.
Hope you had a Happy Easter!
April is here. Training is still happening… but nutrition discipline is fading. The same athlete who was strict in January is now “winging it.”
And suddenly, runs feel heavier. Not because you lost fitness—but because you lost fuel.

Carbohydrates are your body’s primary fuel for performance.
When you train, you rely on glycogen—stored carbohydrates in your muscles. When that runs low:
→ Pace drops → Effort increases → Fatigue shows up earlier
This is not mindset. It’s metabolism (Burke et al., 2011).
Most runners don’t plateau because of training.
They plateau because they are under-fueled.

Post of the week
McKale Montgomery, a 41-year-old TCU assistant professor, became the first woman to win the Cowtown Ultra Marathon outright in its 18-year history in March 2026.
Scientific/Performance Summary: This week, new laboratory data from independent testers in the US has highlighted the sustained energy return of the Alphafly 3's latest batch. The dual ZoomX foam pods combined with the Flyplate are showing a consistent 3.5% to 4% improvement in running economy for mid-foot strikers. The focus is shifting toward "mechanical durability," ensuring the carbon-pop remains effective beyond the first 100 miles.
The Verdict: Real Innovation. While the shoe isn't "new," the refined manufacturing process is making high-end carbon performance more accessible and durable for the marathon season.

🚀 COROS VERTIX 2S: THE "ALTITUDE" KING FOR LATAM PEAKS
Scientific/Performance Summary: Popularity is surging in the Andean regions (Colombia/Ecuador) for the Vertix 2S. Its new dual-frequency satellite system is proving 20% more accurate in "canyon" environments—essential for technical trail running in high-altitude terrain. Scientifically, its blood oxygen (SpO2) sensor integration with training load analytics allows athletes to monitor acclimatization in real-time.
The Verdict: Innovation for Ultras. For the PMP community training in El Paso or high-altitude LATAM, this is currently the most reliable tool for navigating and surviving extreme environments.

🚀 THE "METABOLIC EFFICIENCY" TREND IN LATAM COACHING
Scientific/Performance Summary: A new wave of coaching in Mexico and Brazil is prioritizing "Fat-Max" training (Zone 2) using real-time glucose monitors (like Supersapiens or Abbott). The goal is to train the body to spare glycogen at race-pace, a method that is significantly reducing "bonking" incidents in the final 10k of marathons across the region.
The Verdict: Trend Alert. Science is moving from "how much can you eat" to "how well can you use your own fat." This is the core of longevity in endurance sports.
