👋🏻 Hello Reader...!

Today's reading time is about: 4 minutes.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who somehow do both:

Carry responsibility… and still show up to train.

Work.
Kids.
Household.
Relationships.
Fatigue.

And still they lace up their shoes.

Today I wanted to share a picture of my mom—my heroine. She’s 83 now, still beautiful as ever, and in her youth she was a professional shooter. Both my parents were elite-level shooters, and my dad was even an Olympic medalist. I’m proud of them. And honestly, I’m proud to share a small piece of that story with you today.

Because toughness does not always look loud.

Sometimes it looks like consistency under pressure.

Stress Changes Training

Your body does not separate:

  • Training stress
  • Emotional stress
  • Work stress
  • Family stress

It processes all of it together.

High cortisol over time can impair:

→ Recovery
→ Sleep
→ Adaptation
→ Motivation

(McEwen, 2007)

That means more training is not always the answer.

Sometimes the smartest adjustment is reducing load so your body can actually absorb the work.

Post of the week

Rachel Entrekin made history this week at the Cocodona 250. She became the first woman to win the 250-mile race across Arizona outright

Train With Awareness, Not Ego

Some seasons of life require adaptation.

That is not weakness.

It is maturity.

Maybe today the win is:

  • Running easy instead of hard
  • Sleeping more
  • Cutting volume
  • Protecting consistency instead of forcing intensity

Long-term athletes learn how to bend without breaking.

If you know someone carrying a heavy season right now, send them this.

🌎What's Going On in the World of Running?

1. Jo Fukuda Reclaims the World: Wings for Life 2026

The 13th edition of the Wings for Life World Run concluded yesterday, and it was a global masterclass in endurance. Japan's Jo Fukuda became the men's global champion in spectacular fashion, recording a colossal 78.95 km in Fukuoka to set a new world record for the event. Simultaneously, over 346,000 participants across 173 countries started at the exact same moment to raise a record-breaking €9.2 million for spinal cord injury research. It remains the world's most "democratic" race, where everyone from Olympic legends like Summer McIntosh to weekend warriors are eventually "caught" by a car.

2. Warholm’s Opening Act: A World Best in Xiamen

The Diamond League season has officially kicked off, and Karsten Warholm wasted no time reminding the world why he wears the crown. In Xiamen, the Norwegian superstar smashed the 300m hurdles world best, clocking a stunning 33.05 seconds to obliterate the previous mark. While not a standard Olympic distance, the performance signals that Warholm is in terrifyingly good shape as the circuit moves toward Shaoxing and Rabat later this month.

3. May Madness: Collegiate Conference Championships Begin

For the NCAA crowd, the "real" season started today. This morning marked the opening of major conference battles, including the Southern Conference (SoCon) and Big South Championships. At High Point University, multi-event athletes are currently grinding through the decathlon and heptathlon, while Samford is projected to fight off stiff competition to repeat as men's and women's team champions. These meets are the ultimate pressure cookers for athletes trying to secure those elusive regional qualifying spots.

🚀 The Weekly Scout: Gear & Elite Performance

  • ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 33: THE "FLUIDSUPPORT" ERA BEGINS: Officially announced on May 5th for a June 1st global release, the GEL-KAYANO™ 33 introduces FLUIDSUPPORT™ technology. This move signifies a shift from rigid medial posts toward a more adaptive, holistic stability system. The design focuses on "plush stability," utilizing a softer internal geometry that works with the foot's natural movement rather than forcing it, reducing the "clunky" feel often associated with traditional stability shoes.
    • The Verdict:Stability Reimagined. This is a significant leap for the Kayano franchise. If you are a runner who needs support but hates the stiffness of older models, this "next-generation" stability tech is designed for your long, easy recovery miles.
  • IRONMAN 70.3 GULF COAST: SAM LONG'S "BIG UNIT" DOMINANCE: This past Saturday (May 9), Sam Long successfully defended his title in Florida with a time of 3:11:41. Despite a shortened 1,000m swim due to weather, Long’s performance was a masterclass in bike-to-run efficiency. He posted an impressive 1:49:32 bike split and closed with a 1:10:38 half marathon. On the women's side, Grace Alexander took her first pro win (3:42:31), holding off a late charge from Brazil's Vittoria Lopes.
    • The Verdict:The Pacing Blueprint. This race proved that "damage control" in the water followed by elite-level aerobic power on the bike is still the winning formula for the world’s top non-swimmers.

Discipline is not ignoring stress.

It is learning how to train wisely through it.
