👋🏻 Hello Reader...!

Today's reading time is about: X minutes.

It’s Cinco de Mayo today and it felt in a Taco Tuesday lol... what a good move Mexico! Let's celebrate Mexican resilience, culture, and identity.

Yesterday your feed was full of lightsabers and “May the 4th be with you.”

Two very different themes.
One common principle:

Strength is built.

Not inherited.
Not wished into existence.
Not bought.

And the same is true for mental toughness.

Mental Toughness Is a Skill

Many athletes think toughness is something you either have or don’t.

Science says otherwise.

Mental toughness is built through repeated exposure to manageable stress, emotional regulation, and confidence earned through preparation (Gucciardi et al., 2015).

It grows when you:

  • Keep commitments on low-motivation days
  • Stay composed under discomfort
  • Finish sessions with discipline, not emotion

Confidence is not talk.

It is memory of past execution.

Post of the week

This week I'm sharing some of the tools I use to boost engagement on my posts.

How to Train It

Start small.

  • Hold pace when discomfort begins
  • Finish the final rep with focus
  • Choose consistency when motivation is low
  • Replace panic with process

Mental toughness is rarely built in dramatic moments.

It is built in ordinary decisions repeated often.

Like muscles, it adapts to training load.

What's Going On in the World of Running?

  1. The running community is currently in awe of a pint-sized powerhouse who is rewriting the record books. I'm talking about the sensational news from this past weekend, about Ben Dick. The 11-Year-Old Who "Dropped" His Dad: Ben Dick's Historic Run. Just this Saturday (May 2), 11-year-old Ben Dick delivered a performance at the IU Health 500 Festival Mini-Marathon that has left seasoned marathoners speechless.Ben didn't just finish the 13.1-mile course; he scorched it in 1:20:14.

2. The world’s largest running event is just six days away. On May 10, millions will participate in the 13th Wings for Life World Run, a global race with no finish line where runners try to stay ahead of a "Virtual Catcher Car". This year, the event aims to break its own participation record to fund spinal cord injury research, with major "Flagship Runs" scheduled in cities like Chicago and Vienna.

Today's Quote or James Clear's Corner.
"Improvement is being better than your past self.
It doesn't have to be more complicated than that. Do not compare against others, compare against your past self..
Keep the focus internal."
James Clear, is the Author of Atomic Habits
Cofounder of
Authors Equity, and I really enjoy his content.
